The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET 2025 exam notification on February 7. The registration process was open from February 7 to March 7, while the correction window was available from March 9 to March 11.
NEET Exam Pattern 2025 Changed: The NEET UG 2025 exam will see a major change after four years, as the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to remove optional questions from Section B, which were introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic. Candidates appearing for NEET UG 2025 will no longer have the flexibility of optional questions or additional time, as the exam reverts to its pre-COVID format.
Section B, introduced during the pandemic to support students, has been in practice for four years. For NEET UG 2025, the question paper will include 180 compulsory questions, with 45 each in Physics and Chemistry, and 90 in Biology. Candidates will have 180 minutes to complete the exam, with no additional time provided.
The NEET UG 2025 exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode during a single shift.
NTA has also released the official syllabus for NEET 2025. The syllabus has been finalized by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) under the National Medical Commission (NMC). Students can check the syllabus on the NMC’s official website (nmc.org.in) and the NTA NEET portal.

NEET 2025 Exam Pattern
The NEET UG 2025 exam will follow a revised pattern, reverting to the pre-COVID format. The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based), and candidates will mark their answers on the OMR sheet. It will consist of 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided across three subjects: Physics (45 questions), Chemistry (45 questions), and Biology (90 questions, with 45 each from Botany and Zoology).
The total duration of the exam will be 180 minutes (3 hours), with no additional time provided. Each correct answer will earn 4 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer, and not attempted questions will carry no marks. One key change for NEET UG 2025 is the removal of Section B, which previously included optional questions. This means that all 180 questions will be mandatory for candidates, ensuring a uniform and fair exam experience for all.
